Designing Luxury Hospitality Interiors That Guests Feel Long After They Leave

by Audi, Design Director at Audi Snÿman Interior Architecture and Interior Design

Every guest remembers how a space made them feel. Not the thread count, not the brand of the tap, but the sense that someone understood exactly what they needed before they arrived. That intuition, the ability to design for experience rather than appearance, is something we’ve been refining since 1996.

At Audi Snyman Interior Architecture and Interior Design, our work has always been rooted in understanding people. What do they notice? What makes them feel at ease? What turns a beautiful room into one they never forget? These are the questions that guide every project we take on, whether it’s a private residence or a luxury hotel suite or lobby.

Thirty Years of Designing for Discerning People

For three decades our focus has been on creating deeply personal interiors for clients who expect the very best. Our residential portfolio spans palatial family estates, country retreats, and homes inspired by the world’s finest five-star hotels.

In a project like Gorgeously Grand, an award-winning 1,800sqm residence, our clients drew directly from their stays at leading international hotels and asked us to bring that same level of luxury into their home. In Maison Benie, a 2,000sqm family home designed around hosting, wellness and leisure, we created resort-level environments, including bespoke bars, a spa, and a home theatre, all woven seamlessly into spaces built for elevated daily living.

What does this have to do with hospitality interior architecture? Everything. When you’ve spent thirty years listening to, and designing for people who have stayed in the best hotels on earth, you develop an instinct for what those guests expect. And you learn how to exceed it.

Luxury That Is Felt, Not Simply Seen

We believe high-end hospitality design isn’t defined by opulence alone. It lives in atmosphere: the warmth of layered textures, the refinement of bespoke joinery, the ease of a space that feels considered down to its last detail.

This philosophy runs through all of our work. At SpiSouLi Manor, it’s the seamless connection between interior and outdoor living, where South African artworks, hand-blown glass and sculptural lighting create a home that feels generous and made for relaxed entertaining. At Auburn Haven, it’s the restrained use of palette, tactile materials and collectible details that give a space its warmth and soul.

These are the same principles that shape an exceptional guest experience in a luxury hotel or lodge. Every surface, every transition, every moment of light placed with intention. Luxury lodge design, at its finest, asks the same question we ask in every private home: how should this space make someone feel?

Technical Expertise That Protects the Vision

Beautiful interiors are only as good as their execution, and in hospitality projects the margin for error is even smaller. Durability, brand expression, operational flow, and guest comfort all need to work together from day one.

Our capability spans interior architecture, spatial planning, bespoke detailing, finishes, custom furniture, lighting design, and styling. But what sets our approach apart is how early we engage with the professional team. We work alongside architects, engineers, and specialist consultants from the outset, making sure that spatial planning, lighting, electrical layouts, water points, plumbing, services coordination, joinery, and furniture integration are designed and sequenced at the right time, not retrofitted later.

Our project Resplendence, a 2,400sqm mansion conceived as both sanctuary and statement, sees palatial scale balanced with intimate personal symbolism. Marble, gold, glass, Italian lighting, commissioned carpets, custom furniture and bespoke insignia details demonstrate our capacity to deliver highly-detailed, one-of-a-kind interiors for clients with exacting expectations. Early engagement that supported the coordination of opulent materials at extraordinary scale was essential. Grandeur without technical precision becomes excess. Combine the two, and it becomes something a guest carries with them.

From Private Luxury to Hospitality Excellence

The bridge between luxury residential design and luxury hotel design is shorter than most people think. Private clients who have experienced the world’s finest hospitality want that same feeling at home. Hospitality guests who step into a beautifully designed suite want it to feel as personal and considered as the best home they’ve ever visited.

We’ve spent enough time on both sides of that exchange: listening to, and creating bespoke interiors for private clients whose expectations are shaped by international travel.

That dual understanding is what we offer our hospitality clients and developers. Not just beautiful rooms, but interiors shaped by a genuine knowledge of what discerning guests feel, expect, and remember.
