Audi Snÿman Interior Design - Design and décor trends for 2021Audi Snÿman, owner of Audi Snÿman Interior Design, shares tips on how to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

For us to maintain general well-being through this pandemic, it is important to create both physical and psychological boundaries between the different aspects of our lives. The importance of work-life balance has already begun to influence the way we design our homes and our interiors. At the same time, as we spend more and more time within the same four walls, there is the danger that we may become more easily bored with our interiors.

As relatively few of us are currently in the midst of designing a brand new house, we need to be intentional about compartmentalising our lives within our home. Physically this means demarcating separate spaces for work, leisure, life and recovery.

Comfort is key – this is your place of rejuvenation and rest throughout all areas of the house, but in particular now within your home office, as this is the space where you may spend some eight hours of your day. I suggest creating an interior that is conducive to work – stylish functionality and ergonomic comfort, but still easy on the eye. This means having good office furniture (including storage) that is both comfortable and practical. Working from the bedroom, TV room, or on the kitchen counter should be avoided. Those areas need to be reserved for other aspects of your life, including a short breakaway when needed.
